About Us
Welcome to High School scholastic chess in Washington State! WHSCA is a non-profit organization run by volunteers. The Washington High School Chess Association (WHSCA) organizes and runs the annual Mini Teams (open to MS/JHS/HS players), High School Individual State Chess Championship and High School Team State Chess Championship tournaments.
The officers of the Association are elected annually by the Washington High School Chess Coaches at the High School State Team Tournament. Our latest election was on February 8, 2013.

This organization also runs the Northwest Scholastic Rating System (NWSRS) at RatingsNW.com, long maintained by Ollie LaFreniere who died in August, 2002. Kirk Winges retains the responsibility for rating scholastic events.
